on our way to our chalet

6/12/14

This morning we got up at 6.15 am to be ready to go by 6.45 and then we caught the bus to Terminal 5 from across the road.  Once we had checked in and put our luggage through we said goodbye to Danielle's Parents and went through security.  They pulled my bag as side and made me unpack it all to find my jar of vegemite.  Then they said it was a liquid and wouldn't let me take it on the plane.

Danielle and I bought breakfast at the Airport and found the Scout Paddington Bear.

We landed in Zurich early.. the whole flight took 1 hr and 20 mins instead of 1 hr 50... you wouldn't have even have left WA by then.

Found the train and bought a ticket and managed to get all the way to Bern without a hiccup. In Bern we managed to get on the right train however when we asked a lovely elderly swiss couple if this train stopped at Frutigen they told us something in German which we could totally understand... not.  We eventually figured out that this was the right train however it wasn't until the ticket lady came down that we were told that the train splits in two at Spiez.  What train splits in two!? Anyways the elderly couple were very happy when we eventually figured out what they were trying to say.  We then had a lovely one or two word conversation-
“Where from?”
“Australia”  “England”
“Holiday?”
“Girl Guides” (smiles and nodding then more words in German. .)

This is Olivia the Rainbow on the Train, She will begin to feature more and more in photos now!

At Thun the ticket lady told us that they wanted to help us move carriages so we transferred one carriage up the train with there help. I suppose it was to make sure we got on the right one! They were very happy when we managed a danke and then laughed when we tried to check if that was correct. Whilst we were changing carriages they pointed out where they lived and where they were going.  Then bade us farewell onto the right carriage!

The train was late to Adelboden however luckily the bus was still there and we managed to make the bus in time.  We put our luggage underneath as the bus was more like a coach than a bus.

We were picked up at Adleboden Oey and driven to Our Chalet... I am so glad I didn't have to walk that hill in the dark with my suitcase.  It was mega foggy and you could barely see anything.  The road was very twisty and turny up the side of the mountain but we eventually made it!

At the moment for the first week of training, all of the seven winter vollies are staying in the attic room together.  It's a tight fit but at least it is warm!
